If you find yourself wandering the quaint streets of Ledbury, make sure to stop by **The Malthouse Cafe & Gallery**, a hidden gem located just off the main shopping thoroughfare on Church Lane. This charming establishment has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike, known for its cozy ambiance and remarkable culinary offerings.
Upon entering the cafe, you are greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that perfectly balances relaxation with a lively buzz. Quality local ingredients are at the heart of every dish, expertly crafted to highlight their natural flavors. One customer, Suzanne Park-Davies, aptly described it as “fabulous, truly fabulous,” encapsulating the essence of what makes this cafe special.
The menu at The Malthouse is anything but standard. With a plethora of options for hot drinks, you are sure to find something to tickle your taste buds. Guests rave about the extensive dessert selection, ideal for those who wish to indulge or savor a treat later. As Kevin Southward noted, the cafe gets busy, so it's wise to book a table ahead of time to avoid disappointment.
The outdoor seating area is particularly inviting, perfect for enjoying a sunny day while tucked away from the hustle and bustle. However, the indoor seating is equally charming, ensuring that every visit can be enjoyed in comfort, regardless of the weather. Jo Price shared her delightful experience dining with her family and small dog, praising the terrific service and delicious food, including what her nephew declared as the best poached eggs he’d ever tasted.
One dish that caught attention is the afternoon tea, which Simon Crick enjoyed during his visit. The fresh fruit scone, paired with clotted cream and homemade blackcurrant jam, is a must-try for anyone seeking a quintessentially British treat. “Every mouthful delicious,” echoed Chryssa Taplin, highlighting the cafe's commitment to quality and flavor.
With friendly and attentive staff members like Sue, who goes above and beyond to accommodate guests, The Malthouse Cafe & Gallery ensures that every visit is nothing short of a joy. Whether you’re popping in for a quick coffee or a leisurely afternoon tea, this cafe stands as a testament to the charming culinary scene that Ledbury has to offer. So next time you’re in the area, make it a point to experience the warmth and flavor of The Malthouse—you won’t be disappointed!

Lovely little place just off the main street. Not a standard menu by far, broad choices for hot drinks too. Managed to get a seat outside (was very busy) - best to book if you want to avoid disappointment, has indoor options too. Dessert options are quite extensive , you can always take it away for later

Highly recommended if visiting Ledbury. I had the afternoon tea, which was delicious. The fruit scone was freshly baked, and came with clotted cream and homemade blackcurrant jam. The loose leaf breakfast tea was nice as well! Service was friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere was very relaxed.

Some family and I took my small dog to this charming restaurant/cafe for lunch yesterday. Not surprisingly the outside terrace was full of diners, however they did have a table inside to accommodate us. The food was superb and the ambience lovely. The coffee was excellent too. The staff were extremely nice that served us. My nephew and his partner exclaimed that they were the best poached eggs they had ever tasted. My goats cheese parcel was sublime. Highly recommended.

We visited this cafe based on the very positive reviews of others and were not disappointed. Lots on the menu and a number of nice cakes including chocolate and Guinness cake which was tasty. A number of gluten free sweet treats hit the spot for me and the gluten free cake I had was lovely was fresh which isnt always the case in my experience. Nice atmosphere too and reasonably priced. Would recommend to others!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our scones and cakes today - but it was the warm welcome and attention of the lovely lady that made it so special. Well done xx
